First Alfa 8c Competizione Arrives on UK Shores

The very first example out of a total of just 41 Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione supercars destined for the UK market, arrived this week. The ultra-rare, hand-built Italian beauty with its Ferrari derived, 450 Hp 4.7-liter V8 engine was delivered to Ian Simpson, a Manchester-based architect who was lucky enough to spare the £138,500 or $274,400 that Alfa Romeo UK asks for the 8c Competizione. -Continued

Ian Simpson, who signed up for the Italian supercar when it was first unveiled as a concept at the 2003 Geneva Show, commented: “This car is truly worth the wait. It’s everything a supercar should be. It’s unmistakably beautiful, it has a distinct engine note and the high performance credentials place it firmly alongside the most exotic cars on the planet. I am delighted and proud to be the first customer in the country to experience this incredible car.”

Alfa Romeo 8C Spider: New Images of Alfa’s Gorgeous Drop Top

If there’s one car out there that makes us more whet than an Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione, then that car has to be its drop-top twin, the 8C Spider. To our misfortune however, the only 8C Spider we’re capable of buying right now is made in China and measures less than 10 inches in length… Well at least Alfa Romeo was thoughtful enough to enrich our dreams with a new image gallery of its stunning 8C Spider. –Images after the jump

Supped Up Alfa Romeo 8c Competizione 590Hp on Sale for $600k!

If there’s one car out there that we’d do anything to acquire, Alfa Romeo’s 8c Competizione would easily top our list. Unfortunately, only 500 examples where built and, to our knowledge, they have all been spoken for. However, one of those 500 buyers decided to give this prized Italian beauty away on the Italian auction site, “AutoScout24”.

And to make things more interesting, the seller quotes that the specific example has received a power boost (he doesn’t give any details though), with the Ferrari derived V8 delivering a whopping 590 Hp, 140 Hp more than the stock version. Still, that doesn’t seem to justify the €380,000 or $600,000 USD (about double the retail price) that the seller is asking for. -More pics after the jump

Geneva Video: Alfa Romeo 8C Spider Presentation

The sensual Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione Spider is equipped with the same 450 4.7-liter V8 engine as the coupe version of the car, matted to a semi-auto 6-speed gearshift with computerized gear selection via levers behind the steering-wheel. Initially, 500 models of the 8C Competizione Spider will be produced, going to the USA, Italy, Germany and Japan. There’s no doubt that we would have preferred to show you a video of the 8C Competizione Spider shaking its butt on a twisty Mediterranean mountain road, but the presentation from the Geneva Show is all we have for now. –Video after the jump
