German tuner Cobra N+ has launched a new accessories program for Nissan’s second generation X-Trail SUV which was introduced at this year’s Geneva Show in March. Briefly, Cobra N+ accessories for the X-Trail include a stainless-steel front protection guard which meets EU requirements for pedestrian protection, a stainless-steel bumper grille, auxiliary headlights, an aluminum protection plate for the engine, stepboards and a wide variety of custom-tailored tire/wheel combinations with 16-, 17-, 18-, 19- and 20-inch diameters. -Press release and image gallery after the jump

Attractive Accessories for the new Nissan X-Trail

Attractive customizing for the new Nissan X-Trail: The new accessories concept COBRA N+ from Cobra Technology & Lifestyle makes the updated version of the Japanese SUV even more exclusive and individualized.

The renowned off-road specialist offers stainless-steel front protection elements with EU operating certificate. The engineers and technicians also designed a special version for the new X-Trail. During the required crash test the COBRA N+ front guard mounted on the all-wheel drive car met the strict EU requirements for pedestrian protection. The accessory part was issued an EU general certificate eliminating the need for individual technical inspections and for amending the vehicle documents. Active safety can be further improved with COBRA N+ auxiliary headlights.

The Nissan can be further upgraded with a bumper grille also made from high-gloss stainless steel. The engine protection plate made from aluminium is designed for heavy-duty off-road driving.

The attractive COBRA N+ all-around protection for the X-Trail also includes stainless steel made stepboards for easier entering and exiting of the vehicle. Self-adhesive rub strips protect the four doors against damage from other vehicles or shopping carts.

The COBRA N+ program also offers a large selection of custom-tailored tire/wheel combinations for the 4x4 with 16-, 17-, 18-, 19- and 20-inch diameters. The largest possible version is the Cobra Technology & Lifestyle Sahara multi-spoke wheel in size 8.5Jx20 with tires in size 245/35 R 18.

The COBRA N+ sport rear muffler is available for all gasoline and Diesel versions of the Nissan X-Trail. The performance-optimizing accessory offers a more powerful engine sound plus refined looks with its two chrome tailpipes. Nissan To Launch Diesel Powered X-Trail SUV In Japan In 2008

Nissan is due to become the first Japanese carmaker in more than a decade to offer a diesel powered passenger car to the domestic market as it announced its plans to launch a new clean diesel engine for use in the X-Trail SUV in the fall of 2008.

In Europe the Nissan X-Trail is offered with the 2.0-litre M1D diesel unit developed by Alliance partner Renault which is available in two levels of output, 150hp and 173hp. Torque outputs are 320Nm and 360Nm respectively, 90 per cent of which is developed, in both cases, at 1,750rpm. Both engines are fitted with diesel particulate filters to minimize emissions. Standard on both versions is a six-speed manual transmission, though the 110kW model is optionally available with a new six-speed automatic. –Follow the jump for the press release

NISSAN TO INTRODUCE CLEAN DIESEL ENGINE IN JAPAN - X-TRAIL diesel to debut in 2008 -

TOKYO (August 6, 2007)--Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today announced plans to launch a new clean diesel engine for use in the X-TRAIL sport-utility-vehicle, to be introduced in Japan in the fall of 2008. Based on the M9R engine co-developed with Alliance-partner Renault, the Nissan version will adopt original clean diesel technologies (high-performance catalysts and advanced engine management technologies). This clean diesel engine is being developed to lower exhaust gas emissions to levels comparable to those of new emission standards in Japan. Further details on performance and specifications will be revealed closer to introduction.

Introducing its first clean diesel engine in Japan is another action planned under the Nissan Green Program 2010, the company’s mid-term environmental action plan focused on CO2 emissions reduction. Nissan is committed to bringing the right technology to the right market at the right time with the right value to the customer. Major research and development programs include fuel cell cars, hybrid cars, biofuel-based cars, electric vehicles, improvement in gasoline engines and clean diesels.
