Renault Laguna Coupe Concept Leaked!

Well, Renault better forget about surprising us at the Frankfurt Show opening next Tuesday (Sep. 11) as the first official images of the Laguna Coupe Concept have been blasted into the web. Apparently based on the new Laguna platform (we got that from the name…) the Coupe draws its inspiration from the 2004 Fluence Concept. I know some might disagree, but to tell you the truth, I don’t car much about the design. Weirdly, it reminds me of the Ford Cougar (see pic). Then again some might say it looks like an Aston Martin. And you know something, we’re probably all right. -Continued after the jump

We do like the interior though, but something tells me that the two-tone trim won’t make it in production when Renault unveils the road-going version of the Laguna Coupe in the 2008 Paris Show. Seriously now, just think more or rather only, of the Laguna’s cabin. There’s no press release so your guess is as good as ours if you’re asking about the Laguna Coupe’s powetrain. However, of we wanted to use logic, we’d vote on a hybrid – diesel powerplant. We’ll find out soon enough.

Snapped: Renault Laguna Coupe

The folks over at Car Online managed to capture this teaser shot (insert, on the right) of the upcoming Laguna Coupe during the launch of the Laguna Coupe –yes that’s what they wrote but we're guessing they probably meant to say at the launch of the Laguna hatch/estate. According to the UK car magazine, the yet unnamed, coupe version of the Laguna will draw its inspiration from the 2004 Fluence Concept (central pic). We should expect a concept version of the coupe to be previewed at the Geneva Show next March with the production version following at the Paris show in September 2008. The later will most probably be offered with 2.0L turbocharged petrol and diesel engines delivering 175 and 145 Hp respectively along with an all-new 240 Hp 3.0L turbodiesel unit and the 3.5L V6 petrol from the Nissan 350Z.mmm
