2009 Citroen C2 Facelift: Visual Enhancements and new 110 Hp 1.6L Diesel

For the 2009 Model Year, Citroen has enhanced the C2 hatchback by subtlety redesigning the minicar’s front end and adding a new diesel engine option. The 2009 C2 hatch is distinguished by the new fascia with changes including a redesigned bumper and a new radiator grille with wider and bigger chevrons.

From May 2008, depending on the country, the C2 diesel range will be enhanced with the addition of PSA Peugeot-Citroen’s 1.6-liter HDi engine with a particulate filter. The new unit generates 110 Hp at 4,000 rpm and maximum torque of 240 Nm at 1,750 rpm. According to the French carmaker, the C2 1.6 HDi 110 DPFS consumes just 4.4 l/100 km or 53.5 MPG (not bad, wouldn’t you say?) over a standard combined cycle for CO2 emissions of 119 g/km. –Continued after the jump

The new C2 diesel version also features new suspension upgrades that include stiffer springs at the front (65% damping instead of 75%); a stiffer anti-roll bar (diameter increased from 18 mm to 20 mm at the front and from 20.5 mm to 24 mm at the rear); decoupled suspension uprights and front and rear damping control adapted to the car's dynamic characteristics while also optimising suspension comfort. Additionaly, the C2 1.6 HDi’s variable-assistance electric power steering features a new high-precision control system that adapts power to the characteristics of this vehicle.
