Nissan’s CVT Equipped Car Sales Top 1 Million in 2007

Nissan announced today that global sales of its CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) equipped vehicles topped the one million mark in the Fiscal Year 2007 (April 2007 to March 2008). The Japanese carmaker has managed to more than quadruple its sales of CVT-equipped vehicles from 250,000 units in FY 2004 to 1,088,000 units in FY 2007.

According to Nissan, currently, CVT represents approximately 28.6 percent of global sales, compared to 7 percent in FY 2004. CVT penetration varies across the regions, with the highest rate in North America and Japan at 47.4% and 43.8% respectively.
