Subaru’s second concept car (click here to see the Subaru Exiga) for the Tokyo Show is the G4e, an environment-friendly electric mini (EV). In case you’re wondering, G4e stands for “Green for the earth”. The 3,985 mm long G4e features a newly developed high-performance next-generation lithium-ion battery that offers more than double the range of Subie’s current EV, the R1e. According to the Japanese carmaker, the battery can be fully charged in less than 8 hours, allowing the G4e to travel a distance of around 200 km – 124 miles. Despite being a compact EV, Subaru supports that the G4e boasts a roomy interior that can seat five people. That was partially achieved due to the fact that the batteries are stored underneath the completely flat floor. -Continued after the jump
We begin our Tokyo Show previews today with Subaru’s 7-seater Exiga concept. According to Subie, the Exiga “combines a liberating roomy interior space that can comfortably accommodate seven adult passengers with exhilarating driving performance”. The 4,780 mm long Exiga sits on a 2,750 mm wheelbase and it is powered by a 2.0-liter Horizontally-Opposed turbo engine mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission. Needless to say, the Exiga is equipped with Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system. Since the Exiga is suspiciously too production-like for a concept, the question is, what model is it previewing; the next-gen Legacy Station Wagon, a new crossover, how about the new Forester? Have your say in the comments below. -Continued
