2011 BMW M5 Car review

2011 BMW M5 Car review
BMW has made it mark in the market and this has been through the its world class quality in terms the interior or the exterior or any other thing, it is always been of superior quality and hence things will always be powerful and luxurious on the BMW’s end and over the years as the technology seeps in the market, BMW has been trying hard to make it up to the mark.

Top 5 Station Wagons we’d Love to Own & Drive

While I figure that I still have a few years in front of me until I settle in, open up a house, get two or three dogs, make a couple of kids and if all goes well, get married too (…), I’ve spotted a few station wagon models out there that I wouldn’t mind at all owning right here, right now. First of all, it goes without saying that just because you want a practical station wagon model, it doesn’t mean that it has to look like your uncle Tom’s Buick Roadmaster…

With that said, I picked out the two most beautiful SWs in my opinion: the Audi A4 Avant and the Alfa Romeo 159 SportWagon. While both models are available with punchy V6 gasoline engines, I’d opt for a diesel version and in particular, the 240 Hp 3.0 TDI quattro for the A4 Avant and the 200HP 2.4 JTDM Q4 (AWD) for the utterly sexy Alfa 159 SW (in Ti spec).

If money isn’t an issue, then all roads point to the trio of German powerhouses: the 507 Hp V10-powered BMW M5 Touring; the 580 Hp twin-turbocharged V10 Audi RS6 and the 453 Hp 6.3-liter V8-powered Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG Estate (it looks so much better than the E 63 AMG). Now, would you have a problem tying the knot if your future father in law promised you one of these supercars dressed in sheep’s skin? That is, unless you have reasons to beleive that the bride is in fact a wolf dressed in a sheep's clothing... (Pics edited by Carscoop)

BMW M5 Touring Crashes From Flat Tire At 180 Km/h - 112 Mph

A member of the Swedish forum “M5board” who goes by the alias “Balazs” posted a set of images from a serious car crash he had in his M5 Touring this past July. According to Balazs, the accident occurred on the autobahn when he was travelling at about 180 km/h or 112 mph. After hearing a loud bang from the right side, the car went out of control spinning sideways at 140 km/h or 87 mph. It hit the roadside barrier several times before flipping over two times and coming to a halt. -Continued after the jump

Luckily, neither Balazs, his wife or his 7-month-old daughter that were on board that day got hurt (not even a scratch!). The police reported that the accident was caused by a puncture to the rear right tyre. Although the Bimmer was fitted with a TPM system (Tire Pressure Management), according to Balazs, the system never gave any warning whatsoever.

2009 BMW M5 To Get Twin-Turbo V10?

Have the German carmakers gone completely power-nuts? They sure have and nothing seems to be stopping them. New reports are stating that BMW has decided to pick up Audi’s (RS6) glove and introduce the 2009 M5 with a twin-turbocharged version of the current 507 Hp 5.0-liter V10 engine that could easily surpass the RS6’s 580Hp.

MSN-Cars website supports that it may very well have proof of this through a series of spy pics featuring a faintly camouflaged BMW M5. And while one can’t be 100 percent sure of what we’re seeing in the spy pics, we can only think of one good reason other than that BMW is trying out its forthcoming DSG transmission, and that is a revised engine.

Frankfurt Show: AC Schnitzer ACS5 Sport Touring Based On BMW M5

Boy, these Germans don’t know when to stop do they… We know its crazy but we love it! Making its worldwide preview in Frankfurt along with the Audi RS6 Avant and Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG Estate, AC Schnitzer’s muscle-wagon is based on the 507 Hp BMW M5 Touring. Like its sedan spouse, the ACS5 Touring packs a ludicrous 552 Hp under its bonnet thanks to the M5’s revised 5.0-litre V10. -Continued after the jump

The V10 unit has been enhanced with a custom engine control module, a special exhaust manifold, sports catalysts and a twin rear silencer with increased gas flow to keep the exhaust back pressure as low as possible. AC Schnitzer also removed the V-max limit on the ACS5 Sport Touring announcing a top speed of around… 320 km/h or 200 mph. Did we mention that it has 500-liters of luggage space and that the rear seats fold?

The ACS5 Sport Touring also features a suspension kit that includes sports performance springs, which lower the centre of gravity of the vehicle further and reduce body roll thanks to the harder set-up, and a special aluminum strut brace for the front axle. In contrast to the standard M5 which is equipped with a two-pot brake, the ASC5’s front wheels are fitted with an 8-pot high performance braking system. Finally, AC-Schnitzer dressed the M5 Touring with a relatively subtle aerodynamic package that includes carbon spoilers, a chromed front grille and 20-inch alloy rims in 245/35 R20 rubber up front and 285/30 R20 or 295/30 R20 at the rear.

BMW M5 by Evosport: 560Hp - You Have To Listen To This...

Turn up the volume but be careful there’s nothing fragile stashed on the side of your desk cause this “bimmer” is loud, gruesomely loud. Damn, I think I just got really whet… Developed by Evosport, this M5 E60 adds another 60 Hp to the standard V10’s 507 Hp thanks to several mods that include the redesigned exhaust system and the reprogrammed engine management chip. -More pictures and videos after the jump

Depending on the depth of your wallet, you can also add a heap load of stuff on the M5 like Rotora's brake system (12-piston caliper / 405mm discs up front and 4-piston calipers/380mm discs at the rear), H&R lowering springs and God knows how many carbon parts (mirror covers, rear spoiler etc). You’ll probably end paying for another M5 in the process but at least you’ll be the last person on earth that any sane family member would ask for a ride.

Video: 2008 BMW M5 Touring Test

Equipped with a magnificent 5.0L V10 engine that delivers a hefty 507 Hp to the rear-wheels revving happily up to 8,250 rpm, the BMW M5 Touring is the family guy’s dream come true –hell, we wouldn’t mind owning it either. However, until the goddess of luck smiles upon us, we’ll have to be consent with video reviews like the one that the guys over at Auto Motor Sport Sweden cooked up. Just press play and pump up the volume to hear that manic V10 screech like a beast. -Thanks for the tip Alan!

Fifth Gear: BMW Williams F1 vs BMW M5

In this intriguing episode of Fifth Gear, Tiff Needell and his co-hostess Vicki Butler-Henderson get a once in a lifetime opportunity to compare a BMW Williams F1 car with a BMW M5 on the Rockingham racetrack in the UK. Of course, you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to guess the winner, but who cares! Point is, the folks over at Fifth Gear managed to race an F1 car with a sports sedan at a racetrack. Damn some people get all the luck don’t they?

Thanks for the tip Rob!
